Making Pottery Social Again.

Clay Fire Water was born out of a simple observation: pottery studios are often intimidating, dusty, or strictly academic. We wanted to change that.

We believe that working with clay should be as accessible as grabbing a drink with friends. Located in the heart of RiNo, Denver, we’ve built a space that bridges the gap between a serious ceramics studio and a neighborhood lounge.

The Studio

Our studio is outfitted with professional-grade Shimpo wheels, ample hand-building tables, and top-tier kilns. But unlike a classroom, the lighting is warm, the music is curated, and the vibe is set for relaxation.

We operate on a "Members-Lite" model. No expensive monthly contracts required. Once you take a single intro class, you unlock access to our wheels whenever you want to book them.

The Bar

Creativity can be thirsty work. We feature a rotating selection of local Denver craft beers, natural wines, and non-alcoholic craft sodas.

You don't have to be throwing to hang out. Guests are welcome to sit at the bar, watch the wheels spin, and enjoy the atmosphere. It's the perfect spot for a date night where you actually *do* something.

Meet the Maker

Hello! I'm Mike.

Clay Fire Water started as a simple itch I couldn’t ignore: I wanted a ceramics studio that felt warm, social, and genuinely welcoming without losing the craft. Pottery is magic, but the traditional studio vibe can feel intimidating or isolating. I’m building a place where beginners feel supported, regulars feel at home, and everyone can make something they’re proud of.

Denver (and especially RiNo) has the energy I’ve always wanted around creativity, people who show up, try new things, and bring their friends. RiNo is the perfect mix of art, food, and nightlife, and I love the idea of a studio you can drop into after work, on a weekend, or on a Friday night for a Twilight Spin with music and a drink.

My vision is to build a studio that runs smoothly and feels effortless: clear scheduling, thoughtful studio flow, and a space designed for real progress. That’s why we have dedicated trimming days, first-come Open Spin, and options for reserved time when you want to lock in a wheel. Over time, I want Clay Fire Water to become a true creative hub with classes, date nights, community events, and the kind of place you keep coming back to because it just feels good to be here.

Let's get messy.

Common Questions

Do I need experience to join?

Nope! That's why we have the First Throw Class. It's designed for absolute beginners. Once you complete that single class, you are cleared to book independent time whenever you like.

What should I wear?

Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty (clay washes out easily, but still). Short nails are recommended for throwing on the wheel, and tie back long hair for safety.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Due to Colorado liquor laws, outside alcohol is not permitted. However, our in-house bar serves a curated selection of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options for you to enjoy!

How do I get my finished pieces?

Pottery is a slow process! After you throw, trim, and glaze your pieces, we fire them in our kilns. We will email you when they are ready for pickup or alternatively we also ship the pieces for a small 25$ fee. Pieces are usually completed in about 3-4 weeks after your session.
